Volunteer Spotlight – Nancy
Nancy began volunteering with CVC in 2024. Now she is leading group respite once a week for clients of CVC who live in the same retirement community and showing her children the importance of connecting with older adults.
Volunteer Spotlight – Dianne
Dianne has a long history of volunteering in her community. In her first year of volunteering with The Center, Dianne has had assignments in both the friendly visiting and caregiver respite programs. One of her care receivers reported that Dianne is “friendly, helpful, and kind.”
Volunteer Spotlight – Grace
Grace has been a volunteer with CVC for 1 1/2 years. She noted, “Some activities like traveling or going to lunch with friends are about yourself, but volunteering is about someone else.”
Volunteer Spotlight – Ben
After retiring a few years ago, Ben was looking for a way to give back locally. A quick internet search led him to The Center. Since becoming a volunteer in September 2024, Ben has provided more than 50 rides and logged more than 130 hours of volunteer service.

Kathy has been volunteering with The Center since November 2022. She came across The Center in a list of outreach missions at her faith community — Crossroads Fellowship in Wake Forest. She is a volunteer for our caregiver respite program.

Brenda began volunteering in the summer of 2023 and recently received one of the “Rookie of the Year” awards recognizing her dedication.
Volunteer Spotlight – Wilma
Wilma began volunteering with The Center in early 2017. She moved to Raleigh in 2016 and wanted to be active and engaged with others in her community. She went to the best source to find out where to volunteer — her community of faith, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Even though she just began her social work internship with The Center for Volunteer Caregiving in late August 2024, Sophia already has had many impactful experiences.
Bring Joy to a Senior This Holiday
Since 2020, The Center has distributed more than 1,000 gift bags to lower-income older adults during the holiday season. We need your help to deliver another 300 gift bags this year.
Volunteer Spotlight – Susan
Susan “Tootie” joined The Center’s volunteer team in September 2023 after discovering us on VolunteerMatch. With a desire to make a direct impact, Susan found our In-Home Connections program to be the perfect fit for her busy life as she balances school and multiple volunteer commitments.
