The 2018-19 Lunch and Learn Series will focus on “Dementia Perspectives”. Melanie Bunn kicked off the series on September 25 with her presentation, “Welcome to My World”. In her energetic and engaging style, she opened a window into living with dementia. Through her stories and many role-playing exercises, we learned what it may feel like to be overwhelmed by too much sensory stimulation, how personal space can be respected or compromised, and how our best-intended efforts to care for clients or loved ones may be interpreted by the person living with dementia. It was an eye-opening, instructive, and entertaining session. Over 50 professionals and family caregivers attended at the Five Points Center for Active Adults in Raleigh.

Check our calendar for more information about the next two presentations in the series to be held on January 15, 2019 and April 23, 2019. To register, contact Nancy Francis at 919-460-0567 or nfrancis@ctrvolcare.org.

The Lunch and Learn Series is presented by the partnership of Resources for Seniors, Wake County Community Resource Connections for Aging and Disabilities, and The Center for Volunteer Caregiving. Light snacks are provided by Waltonwood Lake Boone.
