Ask For Help

  • Eligibility

Care Receivers must meet the following eligibility criteria:• Resident of Wake County, • Living at home (not in a long term care facility), and • Age 60 or above with economic or social needs that put them at risk of compromised health or institutional placement, or • Age between 18-60 with a chronic health issue or disability that puts them at risk of compromised health or institutional placement. The Center typically serves Care Receivers with long-term, ongoing needs for volunteer support in order to help them live at home as long as possible. Care Receivers may not receive services through The Center which would be duplicative of public or other services for which the Care Receiver is eligible (i.e., homemaker services through the local agency on aging vs. light housekeeping through The Center; a mobile Cary Resident using C-Tran vs. a volunteer driver through The Center; transportation for medical appointments through Medicaid vs. a volunteer driver through The Center).

  • Priority

Following the guidelines of The Older American’s Act, when Volunteers are available, priority will be given to those with the greatest economic need, social need, or risk of institutional placement.
