Transportation volunteers are coordinated daily by The Center to provide escorted round trip rides for those who don’t drive, can’t use public transportation and have nobody to help with basic needs such as getting to medical appointments, buying groceries or picking up medicines.

With Caregiver Support, help comes from respite volunteers and from learning about resources in the community. Volunteers provide companionship to care receivers who should not be left alone so caregivers can get needed time off.

In-Home Connections volunteers offer friendly visiting in the home or on the phone, and help with chores that are essential for health and safety. This makes the difference in staying independent and connected to the community.

The Center for Volunteer Caregiving helps older adults and adults with disabilities in Wake County live independently for as long as possible. All of our services are provided at no charge by community volunteers. We do not provide assistance with personal care services like toileting, dressing, bathing, meal preparation, and hands-on help with movement.

Last year, our volunteers provided more than 10,000 hours of services.

Caregiver Support
We support family caregivers by providing information on resources in the community and by offering Powerful Tools for Caregivers, a self-care education program for caregivers. The Center also coordinates volunteers who provide respite visits for 2-3 hours so family caregivers can get a much needed break.
